Police launch operation to fight crime

The Upper East Regional Police command has launched an operation to curb the rate of criminal activities in the Bolgatanga Municipality . The exercise which lasted three hours was led by the Upper east regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Victor Agbetornyo, and resulted in the arrest of eight suspected criminals.  

A statement signed by the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ofosu-Mensah Gyeabour, said, the suspected criminals were arrested at various locations in the Municipality and quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were retrieved from them.  A search conducted in the room of one of the suspects Bazaars Adaagba led to the discovery of a locally manufactured pistol containing live ammunition.  

The statement said the suspects are being screened and would soon be arraigned before Court.  The Police is therefore, appealing to the public to co-operate with them by providing vital information that would lead to the curbing of criminal activities in the region.
