Christian Council urges electorate to vote
Rt. Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso

The Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso, says future amendment of the constitution with regard to voting should consider other days apart from Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to allow all Muslims, Seventh Day Adventists and Members of other religious denominations to vote.

He said though this year’s election falls on a Sunday, the Council is urging all churches to encourage their members to go and vote.  He said to ensure free and fair elections, the Council has trained some election monitors to critically observe events at the various polling stations.

Rt. Rev.Frimpong Manso said the Council is also monitoring activities of all political parties with regard to what they put out as campaign messages.

A former Chairman of the Council, Rev. Dr. Paul Fynn, advised the Political Parties to campaign on issues and stop attacks on individuals which create a negative image for the country.
