GT man certain Vodafone will not lay off staff  
The Upper West Regional Manager of Ghana Telecom, James Nana Egyir has dismissed public fears that Vodafone will lay off some workers when it finally takes over the company. He said more workers would rather be engaged if the company expands through the injection of more capital into its operations. Mr. Egyir said this when journalists visited the regional office of the company in Wa to assess workers’ mood after the ratification of the GT sale agreement by parliament. Mr. Egyir said GT’s expansion programme which started during the last quarter of last year has been stalled due to lack of funds. Comparing GT to other mobile phone networks in Wa, he said, while Tigo has five cell sites, GT has only two and this has resulted in low coverage, making the company lose customers to other networks.
