An NGO, Future Leaders Organization, FLO, has expressed its utmost appreciation to NDC Presidential candidate, Professor Atta Mills for addressing pertinent issues of concern to the youth on International Youth Day, which was celebrated last Tuesday. It says being the only Presidential candidate who remembered to speak to the youth on the day, Prof. Atta Mills has given them cause to believe that he has the youth at heart and that a government led by him will give a lot of attention to youth as well as issues that concern them.
A statement signed by the Acting National Co-ordinator of the group, Abdallah Ibrahim said of significance, is the mention by Prof. Atta Mills that his government will ensure that young people are included in decision making at levels that affect them directly as well as indirectly. FLO is therefore gratified to know that there is a Presidential candidate who has pledged to involve the youth in decision-making because the future belongs to the youth and must have a stake in shaping the growth of the country.
The group also appreciates the strong position taken by Prof. Atta Mills that when he become President, he will make sure that his government will aggressively fight the war against drugs. The statement said Ghana has become a haven for the illicit drug trade, destroying the youth at an alarming rate and so fighting against drugs means a lot to the youth and appreciates that commitment coming from a presidential candidate.
