Family Tree Entertainment has taken another big step to partner some American organizations for a series of concerts involving some of Ghana’s big names in hiplife and gospel music for a tour in America dubbed “The Best of Ghana-USA Tour” from August 9.
Having made A.B. Crentsil and Obour virtual ambassadors for the promotion of hiplife and highlife music in some European countries in the “Best of the Lifes” tour, Family Tree Entertainment has carved a niche for itself as a reputable artiste management firm, creating ambassadors out of Ghana’s young and talented artistes by organising concerts in collaboration with international organisations outside the country to promote educative concepts.
The “Best of Ghana-USA Tour” is the latest of such exploits which would see great Ghanaian artistes like Obour, Kwaw Kese, Daasebre Dwamena and Diana Araba-Banson performing in selected States in the US alongside foreign-based hiphop and reggae artistes like Dickie D, Veeda, Baba Shanty, Shaolin and Kwasi Selasie.
The performances would be backed by a live band organised and led by Kwaw Kese.
The band which would be accompanying the artistes to America has professional instrumentalists like Kwaku Boadu who plays the bass guitar, Dominic Degraft Kwasi Appiah who is the lead guitarist, Yenfre, the keyboardist and Augustine Tetteh Quarshie (Alewa), trumpeter or hornsman.
The tour, organised by Family Tree Entertainment, US-based Jutaco Music Productions and the Ghanaians Association in America, would last from this August to September 27 and promises to bring the best of Ghanaian music to the thousands of fans that would turn up at the event.
According to officials of Family Tree, this tour is expected to be more exciting and successful than previous ones involving musicians like Obour, Noble Nketia among others in parts of Germany, Denmark, Portugal and Spain where the crowd hailed them.
The first concert would be held on August 16 at the State Park in Connecticut while August 23 would see another concert being staged at Century Avenue in Hollywood, California. The crew would then move to Carroll Avenue in Maryland for the third gig on August 30 and play a special one on August 31 at the Sheraton Hotel in New York to mark Family Day and Health Expo, and round it all up on September 6 in Chicago.
The tour is being organised with the aim of creating public awareness and raising funds among Ghanaian residents in America as well as some foreigners towards the Peace Project initiated by Family Tree and steered by Obour in connection with the impending presidential elections in Ghana.
It also serves as an opportunity to remind the people about the issues of health and education in Ghana and the roles of US-based Ghanaians in contributing to make the December elections peaceful and successful.
“The Ghanaian artistes billed for this tour will leave the country via Delta Airlines on August 8 and we expect to make the monies of our various sponsors worth every bit of it,” said a representative of Family Tree.
Sponsors of the tour are Smart Energy Drink, Western Union, Trinity Travel, Prestige Travel, African Queen, Moonlight, Vigo Money Transfer, Affiliated Health Plus and Adum Market.
