Land guards terrorise community
Residents of Asuakwa community, a suburb of Sunyani have expressed their displeasure at the activities of land guards in the area.  The residents say the land guards who claim to have been authorized by the Omanhene of Dormaa, Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu, have destroyed several on-going building projects.  The residents expressed their displeasure at a meeting at Asuakwa.

A personal secretary of the Dormaahene, Dei Kusi Ankomah has categorically denied the allegation saying Oseadeeyo has not authorized anyone to destroy the property of people on the Asuakwa land which belongs to the Dormaa stool. He was however quick to add that a taskforce has been formed to oversee the allocation and granting of lands  within the customary domain of Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu.

The residents contended that they do not understand why lands they have acquired legally from the lands commission should be re-claimed by Dormaahene, who claim the lands belong to him.  They said the land guards are compounding the situation by re-demarcating their plots of land with the aim of reselling it to prospective buyers.

According to the Chairman of Asuakwa community, J.K. Marfo, all efforts to restrain the land guards from carrying out their illegal activities have proved unsuccessful. They are therefore calling on the authorities to go to their aid.
