Ex-Ghana International, Anthony Yeboah has chastised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for selecting a mediocre coach in the person of Serbian Milovan Rajevac to handle the senior national team.

Without mincing words, Yeboah emphatically stated that he was not content with the fact that the GFA had named unknown Rajavec as the Black Stars Coach.

Considering Ghana’s pedigree in international soccer circles, Yeboah nicknamed ‘Yegoala’ in his heydays due to his ability to score goals, said the Black Stars deserve a well renowned coach to win laurels for the country.

Speaking in Kumasi, Yeboah suggested that instead of Rajevac, the GFA should have given the vacant Black Stars job to a local coach.

He insisted that to him Mr. Rajevac was not better than the local coaches in the country, saying, “Picking Rajevac ahead of our local coaches is an insult to Ghanaian coaches”.

In spite of these criticisms, the two-time German Bundesliga Goalking showered praises on the Kwesi Nyantakyi led GFA for introducing modern system into Ghana soccer which has helped put Ghana at the highest level in world football.

The former Black Stars hitman said he really appreciates the kind of motivation the GFA is giving to the players of the Black Stars and urged them to sustain it to take Ghana soccer to new heights.

He attributed his generation’s inability to chalk more significant success for the nation to lack of better policies and motivation on the part of those that handled the GFA at that time.

Yeboah revealed shockingly that “during our time we used to buy our own air tickets for Black Stars matches and sometimes we would wait for a long period before getting our monies refunded. This among other setbacks affected us negatively”.
