The Socialist Forum, a Civil Society Group Wednesday held a vigil in solidarity of the jailed former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation GNPC, Tsatsu Tsikata.  In a solidarity message, a spokesman for the group, Kyeretwie Opoku said, Tsatsu Tsikata served the country with distinction especially in the roles he played in establishing an oil industry. He said, Mr. Tsikata should be celebrated and not jailed for a crime he did not commit.

Mr. Opoku said the trial proceedings before Justice Henrietta Abban were grossly unfair and a disgrace to the judiciary and legal profession. According to him the open animosity exhibited by the Judge demonstrated her agenda to use her office to harm Mr. Tsikata.

A brother of Tsikata, Fui Tsikata dismissed comments that the decision of the courts should not be challenged. He said the courts and for that matter the Judges are not sacrosanct and people have a right to challenge their decision if they are aggrieved.

The vigil was attended by NDC MPs, the wife of Tsatsu Tsikata, his brothers and sisters his cousins, former National Security Adviser Kojo Tsikata, some workers of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and a cross section of the general public.
