A five day international trainer of trainees ICT workshop to empower women in the handling and management of the Internet and other ICT systems has opened in Accra. The workshop dubbed "AFNOG Chix" was organized by the African Network Operators Group (AFNOG) in Ghana. The governor of AFNOG, Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor, said the participants are from Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger, Togo, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Cameroon and Guinea.
According to Prof. Quaynor, AFNOG collaborated with the Association of African Universities, the Internet Numbers Registry IP Addresses, and the African Research and Education Networks forum to provide specific training and technical sessions to support management networks. He said through AFNOG’s annual training programmes, many African instructors have become leaders and teachers of network deployment in Africa.
Prof. Quaynor noted that, the internet is gaining a stronger foothold in Africa. It is therefore the hope of the group to promote the growth of Internet Infrastructure in Africa.
