Tamale Teaching Hospital needs rehabilitation

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, UDS, Professor Kaku Sagary has appealed to government to rehabilitate the Tamale Teaching Hospital to attract the needed consultants for clinical training of students of the Medical School.

He said most consultants will like to operate in an environment that is well equipped to enhance their work.  Professor Sagary made the appeal in a speech read on his behalf at the induction ceremony of the second batch of 64 clinical students to the UDS Medical School at Dungu near Tamale.

He said the School of Medicine and Health Sciences is striving to ensure that health is accessible, equitable and affordable for the populace.

The Acting Vice Chancellor entreated the students to prepare for the task ahead of them.  He said even though there are challenges, there is the need for them to stay focused and determined.

Prof. Sangary advised them to be disciplined noting that they cannot be good doctors without self discipline.  The Dean of the UDS Medical School, Edward Gyader, who took the students through some rules and regulations of the University, advised them to be punctual and attend classes as  required by the school.

He said they are pursuing a profession that deals with human life and therefore any negligence on their part will cause their patients.
