Assembly members have been asked to participate fully in the 2010 district assembly elections to enhance the democratic process at the grassroots. The Western Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE, Kusi Aborrah, said this at a workshop organized by the commission for members of the Ahanta West District Assembly at Agona.
Mr. Aborrah explained that massive women participation in the District Assembly Election will help channel their grievances and problems to the appropriate quarters for redress. An official of the National Secretariat of the NCCE, Kojo Titoe, advised the assembly members to be transparent, accountable and to serve as a linkage between the Assembly and their electoral areas.
The Ahanta West District Chief Executive, Joseph Jones Amoah. said the decentralization process requires mobilization of both material and human resources to enhance the development of communities. He said organizations and institutions have a major role to play in the implementation of developmental programmes. This, Mr. Amoah said, must be based on effective decision making process.
