The Daily Graphic has urged the National Identification Authority to do a deligent job as it begins registration in the Greater Accra Region.  This is because a society that does not know much about itself runs the high risk of being relegated to the hinges of socio-economic development. The paper therefore called on every Ghanaian in the Greater Accra Region to endeavour to actively patronize the exercise and shun the last minute, attitude of the Ghanaian which, more often than not results in some citizens not being captured in the exercise.

The Daily Graphic therefore urges the NIA to open more registration centres and deploy mobile registration work stations to ease the problems associated with long queues so that many do not wait for long only to get frustrated and turn away.

The Ghanaian Times has call for a second look at the operation of the Akuafo Cheque system especially in the areas where there are no banks and farmers have to travel long distance to cash their cheques.  To the paper, the resurgence of cocoa smuggling is attributable to the apparent disparities in the purchase price of the commodity.

Apart from these factors, the Ghanaian Times says the issue of access roads along the border towns are a contributory factor to the resurgence of cocoa smuggling.  The paper cited Sefwi a leading producing cocoa community where there is no single road tarred in the area compared to those in neighbouring countries.  The paper therefore urges government to give a serious thought to the roads in those producing border areas.  This according to the paper will improve access to the buying centres.
