Some papers

The Daily Graphic commends the Northern Regional Command for the speedy and effective manner in which they have gathered and collated intelligence in arresting people suspected to be responsible for the murder of the PNC Parliamentary Candidate in Nalerigu.  To the paper, the swift action by the police speaks about their confidence, dedication to duty and fortitude.  The Graphic urges the police not to rest on the oars but intensify the hunt for other criminals in high-profile but unresolved murders in the region.  The paper also urges the public to be forthcoming with information and other forms of support and co-operation to the assist the police rid society of criminals.

The Chronicle has appealed to the security agencies and the general public to help curb the practice of freely brandishing weapons in the open and using them to kill.  The paper has also called on the government to tighten security at all the country’s entry points to avoid the smuggling of small arms into the country.  This sterms from recent skirmishes that have engulfed the country.  To the paper, yesterday shooting incident at Avenor, near Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, leading to the death of one person has raised the debate as to whether Ghana is gradually becoming a lawless state.  The Chronicle thinks these negative developments that are gradually emerging in the country, should be a worry to any person who values his or life.  To the paper if this nonance is not nipped in the bud, the country may find herself in a similar situation in Iraq, Somalia, Congo and Sierra Leone.

“Indiscipline getting out of control” is how the Ghanaian Times titles its editorial.  To the paper, the recent upsurge in drug addiction rape, robbery and occultism especially among the youth is as a result of indiscipline.  The Ghanaian Times says mot of these negative practices renders the youth especially students mentally ill.  To the paper most often these students fall prey to drugs such as heroine and cocaine.  The paper therefore endorses the call by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso for the Church to partner the government to deal with those vices that hinders the smooth growth of the country.
