The Public Agenda congratulates the Ministry of Local Government and Rural development in its quest to use multi-partisan approach to tackle the issue of decentralization. According to the paper ,the move is in view of the statement raised by the National Democratic Congress, NDC, during its 2008 manifesto which calls for a review of the decentralization process to further strengthen the assemblies. The paper hopes that the platform provided by the ministry to the political parties to reach consensus on the decentralization programme will enable them to discuss not only the concept of decentralization but also the state, sizes and performance of local government and structures among others.
