Parents tasked to pay attention to dental needs of wards
The Chief Dental Officer of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Constance Addo-Yobo has urged parents to give serious attention to the dental needs of their children.  This is because tooth decay and gun problems affect children in their learning growth and development.  She said this at the launch of the National oral Health Week at Twifo Praso.

Dr. Addo Yobo said most children suffer dental problems but do not have access to treatment due to the high cost involved and few dental clinics in the country.  She advised school children to brush their teeth twice a day, use fluoride tooth paste, reduce intake of sugar and try to visit the dentist at least once a year.

The District Chief Executive of Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira, Samuel Agyebi-Kessie said poor oral health can have a detrimental effect on children’s performance in school and their success later in life.  He said government has through the Ghana dentist project, provided 21 new modern Dental clinics countrywide to improve access to oral health service.

The project, he said aims to promote optimal oral health of Ghanaians by adding vitality to their lives.
