Police advices politicians to desist from using Machomen in december polls
The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP, Bernard Dery says the service is capable of handling any security problems that might arise in this year’s elections. He therefore appealed to politicians not to engage the services of “Machomen” before, during and after the election but call on the police for assistance when the need arises. DCOP Dery was addressing the passing-out parade of the Volta Region Rapid Deployment Force, RDF, of the Police Service at Ho.

The RDF, made up of one senior officer, one inspector and 96 other ranks is under the command of ASP Dominic Agbozo. He urged members of the force not to undermine the mainstream police but support it to achieve their common goals. DCOP Dery asked them to live above reproach and respect the dignity and rights of the people.

Meanwhile, A Rapid Deployment Force of the Ghana Police Service has been inaugurated in the Eastern and Volta Regions.  The force is to ensure peace before, during and after the December general elections.  The Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP George Anko-Bill assured the public of the preparedness of the police towards the elections.

He said members of the force have been trained in crowd dispersal and control of demonstrators on streets among others.  ACP Anko-Bill advised police personnel to demonstrate professionalism in their work and entreated them to be vigilant in order to maintain law and order in society.
