Educational authorities advised to re-introduce environmental studies
The educational authorities have been urged to re-introduce environmental studies into the school curriculum to help inculcate the spirit of tree protection and management in school children. The call was made by William Dzamesi, a patron of the Abomosarefo youth Association at a forum in the Afram Plains District to raise awareness on the eco-system.

He wondered why the annual campaign against bush burning had died down. Mr. Dzamesi cautioned Ghanaians against the ever changing trend in climate conditions and called for urgent steps to raise the consciousness of the people on re-afforestation.

He said people in the rural communities must be encouraged to adopt scientific farming instead of the prevailing cutlass and hoe method.

Mr. Dzamesi encouraged the banks to give soft loans to farmers to enable them to produce more to feed the nation. He said it will be prudent to create a module in afforestation within the National Youth Employment (NYEP) concept so that school leavers will be motivated to give more attention to ecological development.
