The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso, has condemned the violence and acrimony that characterized the recent limited voters’ registration exercise.  He said 16 years after uninterrupted democratic dispensation, the nation should not experience such an act.  He called on political parties contesting this year’s general election to be circumspect in their activities in order not to disturb the peace.  

Rt. Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso was addressing the 26th Annual Delegates Conference of the Men’s Fellowship of the Church in Koforidua.  He said Ghana has chalked up some successes as compared to other African countries and nothing should be done to stain those achievements.  He urged the Electoral Commission to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.  

The Moderator urged Ghanaians to vote for God fearing and visionary leaders who can move the country into the middle income status.  He cautioned against ethnocentrism saying, Ghanaians should see themselves as one people with a common destiny.


The Eastern Regional Minister, Kwadwo Afram-Asiedu commended the Presbyterian Church on its contribution to socio-economic development.  He expressed worry at the high rate of social vices such as armed robbery, drug trafficking and indiscipline and said members of the fellowship should not escape the blame because some men refuse their basic responsibilities which creates room for their children to become wayward.
