Some aggrieved polling station Chairmen of the ruling NPP at the Kwabre West Constituency of Ashanti have called on regional and national executives of the party to as a matter of urgency resolve the impasse that arose after the party’s primaries. The party elected the incumbent MP and Ashanti Regional Minister, Emmanuel Owusu Ansah.
According to the spokesperson for the group, Owusu Nsiah, the impasse which is as a result of some election misconduct and malpractices was blamed on the incumbent MP. The group said the problem has split the supporters between the MP and the only challenger, Madam Millicent Boateng. It said the problem if left unresolved could give the other parties the advantage over the NPP. The group said members of the party expected reconciliation after the primaries.
However the tension and victimization of some polling station executives including the parliamentary aspirant continue to deepen. The group have therefore given a 10 day ultimatum to the National Executive to resolve the impasse to create a healthy atmosphere for smooth campaigning.
