Govt. urged to promote indigenous forms of communication
A media group known as ‘Our Media’, has called on government and advocacy groups to integrate local forms of communication into the emerging global trends of ICT Communication. This they believe will enhance the reputation of the indigenous forms of communication. Speaking at the Opening of the five-day conference in Accra, the Co-ordinator of the Ghana Secretarial, Wilna Quarmyne said this year’s conference seeks to promote and deepen the interest of traditional forms of communication. She noted that communication is an important tool in a country’s social development, and that all must exhibit this sense of skills.

The Acting Director of the School of Communication Studies of the University of Ghana, Dr. Audrey Gedzekpo, said since its inception in 2000, the group has made tremendous impact in the field of local communication. She therefore urged members both home and abroad to work hard to ensure the success of the group. The Conference is being attended by academics, traditional communication experts and media groups from the five continents.
