Mothers urged to use registered medical facilities
The Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku has advised expectant mothers to endeavour to seek adequate health care in hospitals to enable them to have safe deliveries. He observed that most expectant mothers indulge in self medication rather than consult specialists in hospitals. Nii Adjei Kraku said this at the opening of a new branch of Marie Stopes International MSI Ghana, a health care Non Governmental Organization, NGO, at Tema Newtown. Nii Kraku entreated pregnant women in the area to patronize the health facility to ensure quality health care.

The Country Director of the organization, Mrs. Faustina Fynn-Nyame said it now provides sexual health information services to 4.8 million people world-wide in 38 countries across Africa, Australia and Latin America.  She said Ghana and Sierra Leone are the only partners of the NGO in West Africa. Mrs. Fynn-Nyame added that MSI, Ghana, provides comprehensive family planning services, antenatal, post-natal as well as pregnancy crises care. The Newtown Centre Manager, Mrs. Gertrude Nettey-Marbell said good sexual reproductive health care should be a responsibility of all Ghanaians. She emphasized the need for the reduction of maternal mortality and urged expectant mothers to seek the help of professionals to avoid pregnancy related deaths in the country.
