AshantiGold have told five players they do not feature in their plans for next season missing out on one of the four qualifying spots for Africa. The move forms part of the club's decision to improve their league standings and fight their way back to playing continental football. The players include Ismaila Nyaya formerly of King Faisal and Eric Adu Poku who joined the Miners this season.
The rest of the players are striker Nathaniel Quaye,George Siaw and Shadrack Oppong.
"Too many factors had to be taken into consideration;performance, commitment and discipline. The truth is that we are suffering from lack of talents," Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo said.
AshantiGold are currently lying fifth on the Onetouch Premier League table and can retain that spot after this weekend's final round of matches.
The Miners were losing finalists in the 1997 Caf Champions League to Raja Casablanca and were eliminated from this year's edition at the 1/8th stage by JS Kabylie of Algeria.
