Hearts of Oak striker,Bernard Don Bortey, who was linked to a move to Egyptian side Etelsalat is reported to have signed for Israeli side Bnei Sakhnin FC. Bortey snubbed a proposed move to Egypt to go to Israel on a three-year deal worth 100,000 dollars to the player over the period.
Bortey will not be lacking for company at the Israeli club with heavy Arab support because his former Hearts of Oak team mate Kweku Essien also joined them last week.
Talented without a doubt, Bortey has never quiet lived up to his full potential after persistently picking up one feud or the other with the Hearts management and refusing to train as a result.
But he came back to life after former Sakhnin coach Eyal Lachman took over at Hearts. Bortey's goals and creativity were key reasons why Hearts will play in the elite division again after a miserable season.
Bortey has represented Ghana at every level after bursting unto the scene in the Ghanaian school circles alongside the likes of Derek Boateng, Michael Essien and Razak Ibrahim before going to represent the country at the national U-17 and U-20 level.
His move will also increase the Ghanaian contingent in the Israeli League with Boataeng, Sam Yeboah, Essien and now Bortey himself looking to continue from where the likes of Ishamel Addo and John Paintsil left off.
