The Eastern and Volta Regional Police Command have held a joint Regional Security briefing in Koforidua to ensure free and fair elections in December.  The meeting discussed general security in the regions, preparations for the presidential and parliamentary elections, traffic management and internal discipline.  The Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP George Anko-Bil said it is the duty of the police service to maintain rule of law and deal with criminals and miscreants who deny people their freedom.

ACP Anko-Bil said undisciplined police personnel will be flushed out to protect the good image of the service.  He called on the personnel to help ensure peaceful, free and fair elections.  The Volta Regional Commander, DCOP Bernard Guyiri Dery also promised to do his best to ensure law and order before, during and after the general elections.  He charged the officers not to be partisan in this year’s elections.
