Akatsi basic schools on holidays
Basic schools in the Akatsi District in the Volta Region are on an unofficial holiday due to bad roads and poor school infrastructure. The situation has been compounded by heavy rains in the district.  Supervision has also been affected as officers from the District Education Directorate are not able to visit the schools due to the poor roads.

The Akatsi District Chief Executive, Anthony Abledu noticed this during an inspection of projects in the district. The District Director of Education, Ruth Zagblenku, said this situation is worse in communities such as Nyitavuta and Agormor. According to her, she has tried for three consecutive days to visit schools along the Nyitawuta road without success due to the poor roads.
