Kotoko advance in CAF competition

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have advanced to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup competition after beating Nigeria's Dolphins FC 4-1 on Monday. The Porcupine Warriors, thus finish the two-leg tie on a 4:3 aggregate scoreline. The game was rescheduled to today after rains held up the second half of Sunday's match. Before the match was called off, Kotoko were leading by a lone goal scored by Jordan Opoku in the 45th minute.

However, it looked like the Reds, down by a 2-0 first leg defeat were this time round set to exit the competition as the Nigerian side drew first blood.

An goal in the first half by Prince Anokye made life uncomfortable for the Ghanaian league leaders, as Dolphins sat in the driving seat.

But the Reds responded well as Samuel Inkoom drew Kotoko level just before the break.

Back from the break, Kotoko increased the tempo with the introduction of Ofosu Amoah on the right side of attack.

After 72 minutes of play, Eric Bekoe scored to put the home team in the lead and the national striker grabbed a personal second when he struck Kotoko's third goal with five minutes to go.

Yet still, Kotoko looked like bowing out of the competition but with two minutes remaining on the clock, Kwabena Yaro scored the most important goal of the game to qualify the Porcupine Warriors.
