Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Betty Mould Iddrisu has reaffirmed her commitment to President Mills¹ principles of justice within the confines of the law. In a statement issued in Accra the Minister noted that despite calls from all quarters for haste in bringing ³cases² to court she is following the principles of thoroughly investigating cases rather than pushing them to court only for them to fail the litmus test.
Government’s fact-finding delegation to Techiman says peace has been restored between the Asantehene and the Techimanhene. The Minister of Lands and Forestry, Collins Dauda who was part of the delegation said the message from President Mills has gone down well with the two authorities.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, PURC which is responsible for the approval of electricity and water tariffs says it will begin Public hearings in all the ten regional capitals from next Monday the 22nd of this month. This forms part of the process of adjusting electricity and water tariffs in the country. A statement issued in Accra by the PURC said the Public Hearings will enable the Commission to solicit public views on tariff proposals submitted to it by the Utility Service Providers.
The First General Assembly of the Trans-Bounder Committee meeting of the management of water resources of the White Volta Sub-Basin (CTGEN) has taken place at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. The aim of the meeting was to establish a dialogue between Ghana and Burkina Faso at the local level in order to share experiences to address common issues and to implement activities on integrated water resources managements in the White Volta Sub Basin. The meeting was attended by the Governor of the Central East Region of Burkina Faso Simon Sawabogo, Members of the General Assembly of the Trans Bounder Committee for Management of the White Volta Sub-Basin, Heads and Representatives of Institutions from the two countries.
