Euro crisis: Monti sees the light
Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti says he is starting to see light at the end of the tunnel with Europe’s debt crisis.

This, despite new figures showing that eurozone unemployment has hit a record high.

Monti has been meeting with French President Francois Hollande. They have both renewed their support for the euro.

“We will defend, preserve and consolidate the eurozone, and work on its integrity,” Hollande said.

Monti, who is pushing for action to bring down soaring borrowing costs in Italy and Spain, vowed to work with other European leaders to boost stability.

He said that decisions taken at last month’s EU summit were already starting to bear fruit.
