Konadu confident as he confronts second leg
World and African champions in 2009 at the U-20 level, Ghana are striving to replicate the form that saw them become very dominant at the age competition.

Three years on, the Black Satellites face a tough task in marching the past successes as their qualification to the 2013 Africa Youth Championship hangs in a balance.

Following a 3-1 away loss on Saturday to Uganda, coach Maxwell Konadu has been left to confront a rare disappointment as he plots to overturn the first leg defeat.

The Black Satellites allowed the Hippos to come from a goal down to wrap up the game before half-time. A brace from Julius Ogwang and Joseph Mpande's goal put paid to Michael Anaba's fifth minute opener.

Despite his side now chasing the tie, Konadu is confident that the Black Satellites can overturn the deficit.

“It was a well-deserved win for Uganda because they knew the pitch very well. I’m sure we can overturn the result in Ghana,” Konadu said after Saturday's game in Nakivubo.

Konadu is hoping that home advantage this time will be of assistance as Ghana seek to advance to the final round of qualifying with a possible clash against either Morocco or Gambia.

“I’m telling you we will win in Ghana. They were direct goals which we can also do. Home is home.”
