Almost all the dailies carry the picture of the late President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Evans John Atta Mills. The Daily Graphic has a picture of the late President under the caption “Ghana Mourns as President Mills passes on.” Its editorial is titled “Ghana in Tears.” It says Ghanaians received the shock of their lives yesterday afternoon when the Presidency announced the passing away of the President of the Republic. The paper concludes "President, Asomdwehene, Damirifa Due and May the Good Lord Grant him Eternal Rest in his Bosom."

“What A Shock!” is how the Ghanaian Times titles its editorial. It continues our dear President John Evans Atta Mills is no more. According to the paper, President John Evans Atta Mills paid his due, for he dedicated himself to the service of the nation. To the paper, despite his ill health, he still performed his duties to the state to the end.

The Daily Guide says President Mills was a Ghanaian who served his nation in various capacities, products from which would undoubtedly stand up today to pay complements to their mentor, his invaluable contribution towards moulding them registered indelibly in their memories. The paper adds that Ghanaians would have loved him to complete his mandate but the Almighty God deemed it better to recall him. It renders its profound sympathy to the family he left behind and prays that God grants them the fortitude to weather the storm created by the loss.

The Herald has the picture of the late President on its front page with the caption “Mills is gone, Who is happy.
