Akuse: 2,782 people captured in biometric voters registration
2, 782 people were captured at the end of the Biometric Voters Registration in six electoral areas at Akuse.

The ten-day exercise which began on the 10th of this month ended last Thursday.

The Deputy Eastern Regional Director of Electoral Commission, Eric Mensah Bonsu, told Radio Ghana in Koforidua, that the Zongo Centre registered the highest number of 450 voters representing 16.1 percent, while the VRA Preparatory School recorded the least figure of 139 which is about five percent of the total number.

Mr. Mensah Bonsu commended the Electoral Officials as well as the security personnel for helping the Electoral Commission to conduct the exercise successfully.

The registration could not take place in Akuse during the nationwide exercise because of controversy over which region and district under which the area falls.

Following a Supreme Court ruling, Akuse was placed under the Lower Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region.

However, the chief and some youths of Akuse were not happy with this development and had sought to restrain the EC from conducting the exercise in Akuse under the Lower Manya Krobo District.
