Three more bodies have been found in the French Alps, bringing to nine the number of people killed in this morning’s avalanche.

Most are said to be non-French nationals.

The prefect for the area said the latest victims were discovered on Mont Blanc.

Nine people were injured when the avalanche struck on an access route to the mountain near Chamonix shortly after 5am.
