The Daily Graphic applauds the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for the launch of the oil palm master plan and the crops policy. The paper is however worried that most times after the fanfare associated with the launch of such programmes, nothing is done to support, implement and sustain them to achieve the desired results. It notes that with the launch of the new twin project, many people would be encouraged to go into the oil palm industry but in the end find no market for their produce. It cites the perennial situation where tomato farmers leave their produce to go waste on their farms either for lack of markets or because the prices offered by the market queens are far too low to even meet the cost of production. To forestall this new project from suffering a similar fate, the Graphic suggests that it put in place mechanisms to motivate farmers to participate in the twin project by creating ready markets for their produce.
