Inauguration Of 46 Newly Created Districts Underway Nationwide

Minister of Local Government, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo
Inauguration of the 46 newly created districts is underway across the country.

The creation of the district is in conformity with sub-section two, clause one of the Local Government Act which enjoins the President to create new districts in line with population growth.

The Minister of Local Government, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, told Radio Ghana's correspondent that GH¢ 42m has been disbursed to the new districts for a smooth take off.

He said challenges associated with the citing of district capitals will be addressed now that the districts have been inaugurated.

On the legality of the newly created districts, Mr Ofosu Ampofo said the creation is in conformity of existing laws.
