Old and new set for national honours
Honours will be bestowed on retired and active Ghanaian players on Friday when the maiden National Players Awards comes off in Accra.

According to the organizers, the annual initiative seeks to recognize and honor the contribution of individuals who donned the national jersey with distinction towards the development of Ghana football.

And on Friday at the Banquet Hall, a seven-member panel headed by former GFA chairman Ben Kuofie will announce the winners of the various categories at the awards gala.

Goalkeeper Richard Kingson, who has been nominated for two categories, goes head-to-head with Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan for the Most Outstanding Player category in the Black Stars.

Kingson has also been nominated for the Most Dedicated Player Award in the Black Stars by dint of his active participation in the last two World Cups and the 2008 and 2010 African Nations Cup tournaments.
