Government To Set Up Committee To Investigate Recent Communal Disturbances In Hohoe
Vice President John Mahama
The Vice President John Mahama has assured the people of Hohoe that government will do everything possible to normalize the situation.

He said the youth of the town should not translate their energy into fighting but use it for the benefit of peace and to fight poverty.

Vice President Mahama said this when he met the chiefs and people of the Gbi Traditional Area at Hohoe in relations to the recent clashes between the indigenes and the Zongo community.

He announced that government will in the next couple of days constitute a committee to look into the disturbances.

Radio Ghana’s correspondent who was part of the team reports that contrary to speculations, the town looked relatively calm with the presence of a joint police and military patrol team.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Gbi Traditional Council, Togbui Agyeman, said the Council intended to retrieve their missing regalia at all cost by the close of Friday but the presence of the Vice President, John Mahama gave them the assurance that the Muslim community will help them to find the regalia.

Togbui Agyeman said they were happy with the presence of Vice President Mahama adding that the appeal made to the Interior Minister to relax the curfew to 7pm was accepted and directives given immediately.
