Obama announces new strategy for sub-Saharan Africa

President Obama has announced a new U.S strategy for sub-Saharan Africa, which focuses on the continent's economic potential.

The new policy also explores issues related to democracy, security and development.

President Barack Obama says African democracy has improved but corruption is endemic in many countries and state institutions are weak.

The strategy comes as China's presence on the continent continues to grow through investment and trade.
