Parliament defers approval of Government, IFAD loan
Parliament has deferred the approval of a loan facility between government and the International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD.

This is because some members have raised issues over the purpose of the loan.

The money is intended to be used to build the capacity of Rural and Community Banks as well as microfinance companies in rural areas towards the implementation of the Rural and Agricultural Finance Programme.

The programme aims at improving the livelihoods of the rural poor especially women and vulnerable groups.
