The Daily Graphic expresses concern about the delay in the implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project for the Kaneshie Central business route being funded by the World Bank. The paper supports the World Bank which is demanding the establishment of a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) by the Department of Urban Roads before providing one hundred percent financing for the project. To the paper, it is bad enough for motorists and the public to know that the project is two years behind schedule and nothing is being done by the appropriate authorities to address the problem. It says Ghanaians need to be spared the agony of being kept in the dark since traffic-related problems are already a burden for them. The Graphic therefore calls on the Department of Urban Roads to set up the PIU and provide counter-funding in order to receive the needed support from the World Bank to complete the project.
