Travel Advisory For Ghanaians
Travel Advisory For Ghanaians Who Go To Nigeria And Other Neighbouring Countries To Apply For Visas
It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration that a number of Ghanaians travel to Nigeria to apply for visas from foreign Diplomatic or Consular Missions with no resident representation in Ghana, particularly, the Embassies of Ukraine and Thailand, without obtaining adequate prior information about the visa requirements before travelling. Some prospective visa applicants travel all the way to Nigeria only to realize that the visa section of the country to which they intend to travel may be located in another African country.
Consequently, visa applicants occasionally get stranded as they are compelled to extend their stay outside Ghana without making any adequate arrangements for their accommodation and daily expenses. Such distressed Ghanaians have often been assisted by the Ghana High Commission in Abuja and the Ghana Consulate-General in Lagos.
The general public is, therefore, kindly advised to obtain, from the Legal and Consular Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, requisite information on visa applications for countries that do not have Diplomatic or Consular Missions or visa sections in Accra, prior to their travel to enable them make appropriate arrangements towards the acquisition of their visas.
