Swedru Municipal Hospital appeals for generating plant

The Swedru Municipal Hospital has appealed to the Agona West Municipal Assembly to procure 350 KV generating plant to ensure adequate power supply to the facility.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Apetorgbor Dzordzorgbe, made the appeal at a get-together in which awards were presented to hard working past and present staffs.

He said the 80 KV generating plant at the hospital cannot efficiently power equipment and other facilities at the hospital during power outages.

He said most doctors who have been posted to the hospital do not have a place to stay due to inadequate accommodation for staff.

He said the facility lacks a number of facilities including theatre operating light, aesthetic machine, theatre beds, theatre stool and big size theatre autoclave.

Dr Dzordzorgbe appealed to the office of the Agona West Municipal Chief Executive to construct speed ramps near the facility to reduce difficulties patients and staff face in crossing the road to the hospital.

He said the hospital has acquired an ultra sound machine, patients’ trolley and incubator, which has increased skilled deliveries by 23 point nine percent and a drastic reduction of maternal deaths for the first quarter of the year.
