Road Ministry to enforce law on axle load limit
Minister of Roads and Highways, Joe Gidisu
To protect the investment of road infrastructure in the country, the Ministry of Roads and Highways has intensified the enforcement of the law on axle load limit as provided in the Road Traffic Act.

The Sector Minister, Joe Gidisu, said the move is to reduce overloading of trucks to the barest minimum as well as forestall the premature deterioration of roads.

He said this at a dialogue session at the third policy fair in Accra.

Mr. Gidisu said government is establishing more toll collection points on major roads to adequately finance road maintenance as well as improve upon revenue generation.

The Roads and Highways Minister noted that part of the first tranche of the three billion dollar loan from China Development Bank will be used to construct major road networks in the oil enclave and cocoa producing areas.
