National Service allowance up by 20 percent
The Government has increased the monthly allowances of National Service Personnel by twenty percent with effect from 1st October 2011.

This follows the 2012 salary increase granted to public sector workers.

Executive Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme, Vincent Kuagbenu, who announced this in a statement, said the new allowance payable to personnel now is GH¢243.48.

The statement noted that all National Service Personnel who were posted from October, 2011 and are at post will be paid arrears covering the period.

It also requested that all user agencies adjust upward the allowance of personnel, calculate the arrears and pay them accordingly.

The statement also reminded user agencies to calculate the 20 percent National Service Personnel user fee paid to the scheme, based on the new allowance levels.

The statement urged all service personnel to be patient while the NSS goes through due process to pay them their allowances.
