NMC joins calls to probe assault on Court reporter

The National Media Commission (NMC) says it regrets the unjustified and unwarranted assault on a photo journalist of the Daily Guide, Miss Gifty Lawson, at the Court yesterday by unidentified persons believed to be security personnel while performing her professional duty.

A statement signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Kabral Blay-Amihere said the attacks on journalists in their line of duty constitute a grave danger to media freedom and undermines Ghana's reputation as a beacon of press freedom and media rights in Africa.

The Commission called on the Inspector General of Police to initiate full scale investigations into the attack.
