Ghana hold China to 1-1 draw
Ghana came from a goal down to hold China to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in an international friendly in Xi'an.

The packed crowd at the Shaanxi Province Stadium had to wait until the second half to see both goals with the hosts, the first to find target from a penalty.

Lin Gao stepped up to beat goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey from the spot to put the Chinese in front in the 57th minute.

Second-half substitute Richmond Boakye-Yiadom clawed the Black Stars from defeat when he headed in from a corner kick in the 80th minute by Kwadwo Asamoah.

Five minutes after Ghana's equaliser, China were awarded another penalty by referee Kang Hee Choi but substitute goalkeeper Ernest Sowah, who replaced Kwarasey, saved the spot kick in his first competitive game for the senior national team.

The match against the Chinese handed Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah the opportunity to assess the younger players of the squad ahead of next month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.

The Black Stars started the game with debutants Abdul-Razak Nuhu and Frank Acheampong getting starting roles in the team.

In the second half, the Ghana bench made a raft of changes as Boakye-Yiadom and Edwin Gyimah had the chance to make their senior debuts, joining goalkeeper Sowah, Lee Addy and Abdul Majeed Waris, all second-half substitutes.

Striker Asamoah Gyan was the only unused substitute.

Starting line-up: Adam Kwarasey/Ernest Sowah, Harrison Afful, Abdul Razak Nuhu/Lee Addy, John Mensah, Isaac Vorsah, Anthony Annan, Christian Atsu, Derek Boateng/Edwin Gyimah, Emmanuel Clottey/Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Kwadwo Asamoah, Frank Acheampong/Abdul Majeed Waris.

Substitutes: Lee Addy, Edwin Gyimah, Asamoah Gyan, Abdul Majeed Waris, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Ernest Sowah.
