Final Burial Service For President Mills Begins At Black Star Square
Burial service for President Mills at the Black Star Square, will be officiated by the Chairman of the National Peace Council, the Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante.

He tells Radio Ghana's correspondent that as Chief Officiating Minister, he will lead the team of clergy to perform the final committal at the grave side at the Geese Park today.

Rev Prof Asante also disclosed that his sermon will focus on "Reflections on the futility of life without God".


He first congratulates Ghanaians on uniting in grief to mourn the late President.

Meanwhile, delegates from across the world as well as some 18 African Heads of State are expected to attend the final funeral of Late Professor Atta Mills.

Among some Heads of State who have arrived are President of Tanzania - Jakaya Kikwete, Mahamadou Issifou of Niger, Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, Macky Sall of Senegal, Yahaya Jammeh of Gambia, President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, Faure Gnassingbé of Togo, Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, Yayi Boni of Benin who is also the Chairman of AU and Alpha Condé of Guinea.

Other delegates pouring in are delegation from France representing President Francois Hollande, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from America representing President Barak Obama, Pope Benedict in the person of Cardinal Turkson and delegates from Sudan and Swaziland have paid their respect to the late president.

Meanwhile, the Grave yard at the Geese Park near the Osu Castle prepared for the remains of late President Mills is ready for the burial today.

Our Presidential Correspondent reports that the area leading to the graveyard has been laid with a red carpet and security there is tight.
