The Canadian International Development Agency, CIDA, is funding a project which will establish human rights education clubs in schools in the Jasikan, Kadjebi, Nkwanta-North and Nkwanta South Districts. The project will encourage pupils in basic schools to become interested in their rights and responsibilities.
The Executive President of Africa Mission Network, an NGO Coordinating the project, Daniel Borti told teachers at a forum at Jasikan that the children will be educated on the Domestic Violence Act, Child Abuse, Child Labour and Trafficking. The Jasikan District Chief Executive, Bob Agbontor said government will collaborate with the International Labour Organisation to increase awareness about child protection laws, especially those on child labour.
