President Kufuor outdoors 250 buses
President Kufuor has outdoored the first batch of buses for the private sector under the Fleet Renewal Project of the Ministry of Transportation. The 250 buses are intended to systematically replace old vehicles in the transport system which have proven to be major road hazard and to provide modern, durable and comfortable transportation for inter-city travel throughout the country.

The project is a collaboration between the Agricultural Development Bank and the Intercontinental Bank whose innovative funding scheme have made it possible and JA Plantpool which facilitated the acquisition of the buses from YUTONG buses. The YUTONG Bus Company is the leading manufacturing company in China.

President Kufuor hoped this development will contribute to averting the many road accidents that are taking a toll on human lives and which in many cases can be described as senseless. He said the YUTONG buses have been made to the country’s specifications to make them durable.

He urged the owners and drivers to appreciate this and handle them well to derive good returns on the investment. The beneficiaries of the buses include GPRTU, PROTOA, Inter-city, STC, M-Plaza and OA transport.
