Gram Library & GBC launch Educational Music CD Ghana Muntie - Recording from the GBC Gramophone Library & Radio Ghana 1947 - 1962. The Launch was held on 10th May 2012, at the GBC Club House, Accra.
A CD compilation of Ghanaian songs spanning the colonial and post-independence eras has been launched in Accra. Dubbed "Ghana Muntie" after a one-time signature tune of Radio Ghana, the CD is the product of a four-year project which began in 2008, spearheaded by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and a German music scholar, Dr. Marcus Coester. Aimed at safeguarding the Ghanaian cultural heritage embedded in music, it was sponsored by the German government to help reclaim about 60,000 music records and audio data stacked at the GBC Gramophone library, hitherto documented in an obsolete media.
