It is estimated that sixty percent of children under age six suffer from subclinical vitamin-A deficiency.

This can be reduced with a variety of potato, known as orange Flesh Sweet potatoes.

To this end, Farm Radio International and Editors Forum Ghana have organized an exhibition dubbed "Orange Day" to highlight the benefits of the highly nutritious staple and to get Ghanaians to adopt it.

A Plant Breeder with the CSIR, Kwadwo Adofo said money that is channeled into the importation of vitamin-A supplements could be invested into the mass production of the Orange Flesh Sweet Potato which is home grown.

This in his view will create more job opportunities.
